Sustainable Design

Sustainable design solutions for prioritizing energy, water, and air quality.

Innovating for a greener future.

Our Sustainability Studio is a team of in-house experts whose purpose is to develop the most highly sustainable design strategies for each project. This multidisciplinary team assesses and designs projects with an integrated approach. Working with owners, architects, and other stakeholders, we examine every project with a holistic methodology to identify key synergies.

We establish project sustainability goals and collaboratively prioritize energy, water, and air quality requirements. We uncover emerging technologies and find ways of tailoring new applications for projects of different scales.

Our vision is to collaboratively solve shared challenges: Reduce, reuse, and recycle is as important in a circular economy as being efficient with primary resource streams. We perform life-cycle analysis, system simulations, and models that are utilized for validation. We review proposed system concepts with the project team to determine impacts and financial benefits in the earliest design stages.

AlfaTech goes beyond engineering – our suite of energy, water, and sustainability assessment services creates projects that benefit the triple bottom line – people, planet, and profit. Our Goal is to create a more sustainable world through entrepreneurship, environmental stewardship, and positive social change.

Experience the Future of Museums: The Lucas Museum

The Lucas Museum in Los Angeles is an engineering feat that has set a new standard for art museums. AlfaTech, the engineering firm behind the project, took on a bold ambition to create a building that would challenge our societal perception of museums. The design itself is carbon zero and is powered by geothermal energy from 700 vertical bores that penetrate deep into the earth, providing heat and cooling. The museum also utilizes a thermally active water feature to enhance the site's cooling capacity. The use of underfloor air distribution and radiant floors in prime spaces ensure excellent indoor environmental quality. The Lucas Museum is a centenarian building that has delivered on its resolute mission with a harmonious design that is one for the ages.
